Abstract	Ukrainian national standards adaptation to global and European environmental norms. It describes international agencies and organizations in charge of environmental certification and standardization. Authors highlight practical challenges of international cooperation on ensuring environmental security and point out necessity of finding effective mechanism of environmental activity. Brief analysis of Ukraine history of adaptation to international environmental legislation is presented and main global and European environmental standards, in particular ISO 14000 series, are characterized. Authors provide comparative analysis of advantages and practical challenges of harmonization of domestic environmental standards with international legal framework. The particular attention is paid on precedence of environmental security over business, and on fixing of that precedence in state environmental policy.
